Tips for brewing Rainforest Treasure Tea from Amazon Herb Company

rainforest treasure tea from Amazon Herb Company

We get 10 cups of tea from each Rainforest Treasure Tea pillow/bag.

Rainforest Treasure Tea (previously called Shipibo Treasure Tea) from Amazon Herb Company is a nutritious, delicious tea that's unlike other teas you may be familiar with.

Since ordinary green, black and white teas come from tea leaves, they need only to be steeped in a cup of hot water for 3-4 minutes (any longer than that and they tend to get bitter).

The Cats Claw (Una de Gato), Chanca Piedra, Jatoba and other herbs in Amazon Herb Rainforest Treasure Tea, on the other hand, come from inner bark, roots, etc. So, even though Rainforest Treasure Tea tastes great and releases a lot of nutrients from simply steeping the tea bags -- the maximum taste and nutrition comes from gently boiling (simmering) the tea bags for 10-15 minutes.

The way that we prepare this Amazon herbal tea at our home is to place 1 bag into a glass tea kettle with 8-10 cups of room temperature, filtered water (but you can add a lot less water if you like your tea stronger). We bring the water to a boil and then turn the burner to the lowest setting for another 10-15 minutes. We enjoy this throughout the day (I prefer tea at room temperature but you can place the prepared tea in a thermos, or reheat it, if you like it hot).

The next time, we add a fresh bag to the kettle full of water along with the previous bag, allowing it to boil one more time. Some of the ingredients may continue to release beneficial compounds for up to 30 minutes of simmering.

Whatever tea is left at the end of the day, we refrigerate overnight. (Rainforest Treasure Tea tastes great served cold).
